Whether you love it or hate it, Club Berlin is sure to make an impression.
Hidden away behind tamarind trees on Ho Chi Minh City's Nguyen Trung Truc Street,
a dark, narrow staircase lit with a string of electric lights leads
to the fashionably minimalist club on the second floor.
With a long, open balcony connected to the interior by an empty doorway and
little decoration except for two projectors lighting the plain white walls with
vivid symmetrical artworks, Club Berlin makes a statement with its simplicity.
The Bauhaus movement was founded by German architect Walter Gropius in 1919 with the
intention of creating "an oneness of a common idea" and unifying industry and design.
The movement's work is revered for its simplistic style and is still popular today.
Club Berlin's German owner, Thomas Luckman, is a furniture designer who happily
acknowledges his debt to the Bauhaus movement. Visitors to the club will be
impressed by the simplicity of his vision, using everyday materials and
strong colours to create the light boxes, chairs and sofas that furnish the club.
Club Berlin is a modern, urban venue, the perfect place to meet friends or party.
The club offers an extensive wine list, as well as a range of other
drinks priced from VND10,000 to VND65,000.
